Migration challenges
Migration challenges and their
impact on Europe were the focus of an international professional and scientific
conference organised on 8 October 2026 by the National Directorate-General for
Aliens Policing and the Migration Section of the Hungarian Association of Police
Science, with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

Following the welcome address by Dr. Markus Ehm, Regional Director of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Police Major General Dr. Sándor Gömbös, Director General of the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing, provided an overview of the migration situation in Hungary. The international presentations covered migration trends, migration challenges, and the European dimension of migrant smuggling and human trafficking.
The conference programme
included several presentations on labour market issues, such as refugee and
non-refugee immigrants in the German labour market, skilled labour migration
and labour market integration in Germany, and the labour exploitation of third-country
nationals in the EU.

Conference participants gained
insight into border control and legal migration practices in Romania, as well
as the situation of third-country workers in the country.

The event was supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation with funding from the German Federal Foreign Office pursuant to a resolution of the German Bundestag.
Die
Maßnahme wird von der Hanns-Seidel Stiftung aus Mitteln des Auswärtigen Amtes
aufgrund eines Beschlusses des Deutschen Bundestages gefördert.
