Substitution or replacement of the resident permit  

 

 

Substitution of residence permit

 

If one of your personal data (e.g. in surname because of marriage/divorce) has been changed, or it is misspelled ont he residence permit, you have to apply for a substitution.

 

Important:

 

In case of any change in your name, firstly  you must apply for new passport. Please, submit the application for substitution of residence permit after this, with the new passport

 

1.and fill out the application from HERE.

2.Bring your official documents to support the changed data or the correct version of your(e.g. marriage certificate, birth certificate) along with the valid passport containing the changed personal data.

3.You can submit your application in person at the regional directorate according to your place of accommodation.

4.You can pay the procedural fee by card when submitting the application (20 000 HUF)

 

 

Replacement of the residence permit card

 

If your permit was lost, destroyed, stolen or damaged, you have to apply for a replacement.

 

Important:

 

If the residence permit has been lost or stolen abroad, you must apply for the replacement of the permit at the consulate of Hungary (if the permit has been stolen, the application must be accompanied by a police report). You must have a valid passport to be able to apply for the replacement.If it is also lost, first of all you must replace the passport, then you can report the loss of residence permit.

Please be informed that you may request the issuance of your residence permit under transitional provisions of the new aliens policing legislation on the admission and residence of third-country nationals for one of the legal titles as per the new aliens policing legislation if you are a holder of a valid residence permit under the previous legislation. Please note that only applications for the issuance of a residence permit may be submitted in person or via the Enter Hungary system. The extension of a residence permit is not allowed under the transitional rules. An application for the issuance of a residence permit may be submitted 45 days before the date of expiry of the residence permit the soonest. In case of residence permits expiring between 1 March 2024 and 1 April 2024, an application for the issuance of a residence permit is to be submitted the latest on the last day within the validity period of the residence permit concerned.
